Overview

In Weighsoft, VAT is calculated on a line-by-line basis to a configurable number of decimal places. The total VAT is then derived by summing these line amounts and rounding the result to two decimal places. The rounding follows a specific rule: if the third decimal is less than 5 (i.e., x.xx5), it rounds down.

This article outlines the steps to amend the number of decimal places used in line VAT calculations.

Steps to Amend VAT Decimal Places

  1. Navigate to Settings:

    • Hover over the Administration menu.

    • Click on Settings.

  2. Access Finance Settings:

    • Select the Finance tab.

  3. Modify Invoicing Configuration:

    • Click on Invoicing.

    • Scroll down to the Other section.

  4. Update VAT Decimal Places:

    • Locate the field labeled Decimal places Against VAT.

    • Enter the desired number of decimal places.

  5. Save Changes:

    • Click Save to apply the new configuration.

Note: This setting affects how VAT is calculated per line item, which may influence the total VAT shown on invoices.
