If your Weighsoft setup uses estimated weights for products rather than actual weighed values, these must be configured correctly before they can be submitted to DEFRA as part of Digital Waste Tracking (DWT).
What are estimated weights?
Estimated weights are pre-set weight values assigned to products that are used when an actual weighed measurement is not available. When DWT is enabled, Weighsoft will submit these estimated values to DEFRA in place of a physical weight.
How to set up estimated weights for DWT
Navigate to the product record in Weighsoft.
Open the product for editing.
Locate the Estimated Weight field.
Enter the estimated weight value for the product.
Ensure the unit of measure is correct (kg or tonnes as required by DEFRA).
Save the product record.
Repeat for each product that uses estimated weights in DWT submissions.
Checking estimated weights are being used
To confirm that estimated weights are being submitted in DWT records, navigate to Administration → Transactions and review the weight values shown against DWT records. If the estimated weight is correctly configured, it will appear in the weight field of the submission.
Setting estimated weights globally
If you need to apply estimated weights across multiple products at once, contact support. A bulk update may be possible depending on your product configuration.
Note: Estimated weights require Weighsoft version 5.543 or above and must be configured in line with DEFRA's requirements. If you are unsure what estimated weight values to use, refer to DEFRA's digital waste tracking guidance or contact support.
