Overview
Database maintenance, backups and restorations can only be done from the server where the databases are stored; there is no facility to do this from within Weighsoft.
General database backups and data management are the responsibility of your general IT rather than the Access Group unless we are hosting the application on our infrastructure.
Access-Hosted Systems
If your Weighsoft system is hosted by Access then all maintenance and regular backups are carried out by our own IT teams.
We may also request permission to take a copy of the database if required as part of a support investigation.
On-Premises Systems
If your system is run from your own server then the onus of regular maintenance and backups falls to your own IT team.
The databases that need backing up will be suffixed with Weighsoft5, WeighsoftStore, and in some cases databases suffixed with WeighsoftLive and/or MessageQueue for clients who also use our Weighsoft Mobile Solutions. In addition to this the ReportScheduler and ReportServer databases need backing up to ensure a complete Weighsoft database set has been made in a disaster recovery scenario.
Access will take backups of your database before an upgrade is carried out. We may also request permission to take a copy of the database if required as part of a support investigation.
