Overview
A vehicles "tare" weight is it's weight after any load items have been removed (essentially the weight of the vehicle itself).
The tare is usually just the vehicle, but in some circumstances could also be the vehicle and a container in which it carries the waste.
Where are the Tare Weighsoft stored?
Vehicle Tare weights are stored against the vehicles record in Administration>Lookups>Vehicles.
Entries here are pulled through to the Weighbridge screen when that vehicle is used.
When you navigate to that screen you will see a "Tare File" link on the right0-nd side of the screen against each vehicle.
Clicking on that link will open the tare records for that vehicle.
The screen may contain a large number of entries as it records the vehicle in various situations.
In the above example there are 3 entries - this is because the "SKIP3" vehicle with no container on it will have a lower tare weight that the same vehicle when it's carrying a 10YD skip.
Duplicate Entries?
If there are duplicate entries for the same combination of vehicle and container the system will default to using the one with the most recent date set against it
How can a Tare Weight be edited?
A Tare weight can be edited via various routes.
Via the Tare File
Navigate to Administration>Lookups>Vehicles
Select the required vehicle
Click on the Tare File link on the right
Locate the required entry (keeping in mind that the Container may factor in as well).
Click the "Edit" button on the left
make any changes required
Click on Save in the top-right
Note: Amending the tare file will not have any effect on pre-existing jobs or transactions. only jobs created from that point forward will use the new values
Via the active Weighbridge Job
Note: This is only possible if your user profile has the "Prevent User Changing Weighbridge Weights" permission disabled
Normally the tare weight is captured automatically by the Weighbridge as the vehicle enters or leaves the site (depending on the job).
If the tare weight does need to be amended manually for some reason you can click into the Tare field, amend the value and click the TAB key to confirm the entry and re-calculate the other values on the job.
Via a Transaction
The Tare weight can be edited via the Transaction if it has not yet been invoiced.
Locate the Transaction
Click the Edit button
Go to the Additional Tab
Click into the tare weight field
Edit as required
Hit TAB (this will force the other weights to recalculate both the other weights and the price fields)
Click Save
System Settings
There are various settings that govern how Tare weights behave in Weighsoft. You will find them in Administration>Settings>Weighbridge

The email itself is configured in Administration>Alerts>Internal>"Vehicle Tare Weight Expiry Email"

Set current time for last valid tare: when enabled, ensures current time is applied as tare date when using last valid tare value
