Overview

This article assumes you’ve already updated the recycle or energy recovered rates for a product (see the Product Recycle Rates article) and now need to apply these changes to existing transactions. In Weighsoft, these values are stored as waste components, which can be regenerated either per ticket or in bulk.

Accessing Waste Component Regeneration Functions

  1. Go to Administration > System Settings.

  2. Click Functions, then select the Waste tab at the top of the screen.

  3. A section highlighted in yellow will appear with regeneration options.

Regeneration Options

1. Regenerate Waste Components for Period

  • Allows regeneration of components for all tickets within a specified date range.

  • Recommended: Run for short periods only (no longer than one month) to avoid performance issues.

⚠️Important: Large date ranges may consume significant system resources and cause slowness or crashes.

2. Regenerate Waste Components for Material

  • Targets a specific product whose recycle rates have been updated.

  • Select the product in the first box.

  • The second box defaults to Both (transaction items and set components) — recommended to leave as is.

⚠️Important: If no date range is set, all tickets for that product will be updated, which may impact system performance.

3. Regenerate Waste Components for Ticket

  • Targets a specific ticket.

  • Useful when a waste breakdown has been manually amended for a single job.

  • No date range is required — only the ticket number is needed.

Additional Filtering Options

  • Job Type Tick Boxes:
Filter regeneration by job type (e.g., delivery, exchange). You can select multiple or all job types.

  • Weighbridge Components – KG Only / Non-KG:
Filter tickets based on their unit of sale:

    • KG Only: Updates only tickets sold by weight.

    • Non-KG: Ignores weight-based tickets.

Best Practices

  • Always confirm the scope of regeneration before running bulk updates.

  • Coordinate with your IT team if running large updates to avoid system disruption.

  • For audit purposes, document the changes made and the tickets affected.
