Setting Up an ePad Signature Device in Weighsoft

Overview

Setting up an ePad signature device in Weighsoft depends on the internet browser being used. This guide outlines the steps for both legacy and modern browsers, including required software and configuration settings.

Prerequisites

Before beginning, ensure the following software is installed:

ePadLink Software
Download from: epadlink.com/software/UI12.4.R12285_setup.exe

Note: If the download link does not work when clicked, try copying and pasting it directly into your browser’s address bar.

Important: The software requires .NET Framework 3.5. Download from: Microsoft .NET 3.5

Important Configuration Warning
The settings described below are global and will affect all users in your company. You cannot mix browser setups (e.g., one PC using Internet Explorer and another using Chrome).

Setup for Modern Browsers (Chromium-based: Chrome or Edge)

This method is only supported on Chromium-based browsers. Weighsoft has tested compatibility with Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. Other browsers are not supported.

Additional Software Required:

Steps:

  1. Install both the ePadLink and SigCaptureWeb software.

  2. In Weighsoft, navigate to:

    • Administration → Settings → Images

    • Enable the Browser Extension option in the Signature Pad section.

  3. Go to:

    • Administration → Users

    • Select your username and enable "Weighbridge has Epad Extension".
      ​

  4. Install the ePadLink SigCaptureWeb browser extension:

    • Search for it in the Chrome Web Store or use the direct link provided by ePadLink.

    • Once installed, a small ePad icon will appear in the top-right corner of your browser.

Setup for Legacy Browsers (Internet Explorer or Edge in IE Mode)

Note: As Internet Explorer is now End of Life (no longer supported by Microsoft) we strongly recommend using the "Modern Browser" method details above)

Steps:

  1. Install the ePadLink software.

  2. Connect the ePad device and test using the ePad Generic Testing Utility.

  3. In Weighsoft, navigate to:

    • Administration → Settings → Images

    • Enable the ActiveX option in the Signature Pad section.

  4. Contact Support to install and register configuration files on the PC.

Note: Support will need remote access with full admin rights. Coordinate with your IT team if necessary.

Testing the ePad

Testing within Weighsoft

To verify the setup:

  1. Go to:

    • Administration → Users

    • Click on your username.

  2. Scroll to the bottom to find the User Signature section.

  3. Click "Take signature with ePad Device".

If configured correctly, the signature capture screen will appear, allowing you to sign using the ePad device.

Testing Outside of Weighsoft

  1. Click on the Windows Start button

  2. Search for "Epad Test Utility"

  3. Open the application and test the "Capture" function

  4. When the capture window opens, write a test signature on the ePad.

If the ePad is working then the test signature will appear on the screen in the Capture window.
